During this Pattern cutting workshop, we learnt how to create a caped sleeve, which helped to inform a new creative cutting idea. This workshop was very insightful as my lecturer demonstrated to us, that there are various different ways to use a basic block. We used the ladies basic bodice block to recreate the caped sleeve on these mini mannequins. 

The process was quite straightforward once we were shown how to achieve the pattern pieces. As myself and my class, were working on half scale mannequins for the exercise, the pattern pieces were a lot smaller, so it made it easier to manage and edit the blocks.
As a menswear designer, this is something I will definitely consider for future pattern cutting, as menswear can be quite minimalist, so editing the blocks in a way like this, can create some new and very interesting shapes.
